If Maldivian is supposed to be a good thing then on the basis of form, Douro Valley must be a total moral.  Sat wide and yet still beat Maldivian here in the Naturalism Stakes and meets him better at the weights.  Last start 4th in the Turnbull was an ideal warm up and the odds will be just nice for an each way bet.

 

Maldivian is the logical danger with his barrier draw and weight.  Should control the tempo of the race which will allow him to see out the 2400m.

 

Scenic Shot almost caused a boilover in the Turnbull when almost nailed Devil Moon.  Nice weight drop into this and is a well performed 2400m horse.  Barrier 18 is the only query with him.

 

Eskimo Queen was disappointing last time out however, deserves another chance and Oaks winners traditionally go very well in this race.  Anamato also is worth including in multiples as she goes around with featherweight, especially for a high class mare, and will get a soft run on the rails.

I don't believe the hype that Maldivian is the new Might and Power, but he is a very good animal in a weak Caulfield Cup field.  Should have it his own way out in front, but if something puts pressure on him, he is a query at the 2400m.

 

Anamato is very well in at the weights and will get the gun run from her barrier. Classy mare who should be improved for a couple of good runs this time in and will take holding out.

 

Purple Moon looks like an overseas raider with plenty of upside. Lightly raced and impressive. Looks a genuine chance.
