In a race that’s full of inconsistent animals, the safest way home is to go with the one consistent horse in the field, being Hike. Originally from Sydney where he ran some reasonable races, this bloke ran first up at Bendigo, carried 60 kgs, came down the inferior inside part of the track and was only just touched off near the line. Will have extra fitness coming into this and if allowed to find his feet early and drift back, I can see him being strong at the finish as the front runners get the staggers.

Cognac Bay raced without luck last time in better race at Canberra and previous efforts in town were good enough for a race like this. Another who will run on and appreciate solid tempo.

Zyzxx turned in a career best effort to run 3rd behind Bel Mer last time out and should be more than competitive in this event.

King’s Farewell is a limited horse however, can also run boldly here from his good barrier. Overcame difficulties to win last time out at Sandown.
