RACE 6-HYDERABAD RACE CLUB STAKES 1200 METRES 3.30 PM
Big O’s Oracle
6 – Lucky Diva
1 – Storm Signal
3 – Catechuchu
Is there any reason why Lucky Diva won’t just come out and win again? She’s been nothing but brilliant winning her first two runs this preparation when she’s had to do plenty of work in her runs but won convincingly, admittedly against weaker opposition. Same scenario will eventuate here in that she’ll cross over to lead or sit outside the pace from barrier 10, stays down in the weights and has a fitness edge over her better credentialed rivals. At the $10 odds being quoted around, each way all day!
Storm Signal is a high class mare, who I’ve got a lot of time for. Came out fresh last time and beat Universal Queen at this track and distance and then did the business again over similar circumstances on Caulfield Guineas day. Nice barrier and suited being only 4.5kgs over the minimum. Extremely tough to beat.
Catechuchu is another of the high quality mares returning here. First up last time she ran a terrific race to be beaten only 3 lengths in the Salinger and worth noting she came down the slower section of the track. Slightly dodgy barrier here but her ability will carry her a long way and she also has fresh form against Universal Queen and beat Haradasun here last autumn which reads extremely well for this.
Maslins Beach is better known over a little bit further than this distance however, is a Group 3 winner and does go OK fresh so must be included in multiples.
Rolling Stock is a much better chance than the $81 odds suggest. She was slightly disappointing being rolled out Yarra Valley last time out however, she thumped high class filly Zarita over this distance at Mornington one day and she’s an on pace horse drawn well here. Don’t discount.
Star Rose is probably a touch below these however, she likes this track, has a good weight for this race and flies fresh (hasn’t missed a place in 4 goes). Don’t be concerned about the bad barrier if you like her as she likes to race outside horses.
Shaggy's Selections
8 – Millie Rose
6 – Lucky Diva
7 - Star Rose
Millie Rose ran home solidly without really threatening the winner last start, however she should be much fitter for that run, has a touch of class and could spring a surprise.
Lucky Diva has been very impressive winning both starts back from a spell. Will have a fitness edge on a number of these and despite the tricky barrier could score the hat trick of wins.
Star Rose is an underrated mare who was excellent prior to a small let-up. Does look above average and looks suited at this track and distance.
