CAULFIELD RACE TIPS - 9 FEBRUARY 2008

RACE 9-TEAMELBOURNE CUP 1400 METRES 5.30 PM

Big O’s Oracle

2 – Tipungwuti
8 – Barlinnie
3 – Gotta Have Heart

Tipungwuti was marginally disappointing first up however, that was a much stronger race than this and his first up form has never been anything to write home about.  Was well supported in that race which suggests stable like how he’s come back, did run 3rd to Miss Finland and Haradasun at Weight for Age over this track and distance in the spring and is not badly off at the weights considering his overall record.  Good each way bet to round out the day.

Barlinnie is a well creditentialed horse stepping up in the grades here fresh but, get the feeling he’s up to the challenge.  Puts himself in a good spot in his races and kept meeting every challenge put in front of him last time.

Gotta Have Heart is another one with an impressive overall record and he too will position forward, despite the awkward alley.  Only weakened in the last 100 metres first up behind Let Go Thommo and better suited back to handicaps.  Sandown Stakes winner in the spring beating Royal Ida and Great is Great.  Be interesting to see whether they put a claiming apprentice on board.

Zyzxx has been demolishing moderate opposition and they’ve clearly found the key to him by riding him aggressively.  Gets into this with featherweight on his back so no reason why he won’t run well again, although meets superior field here.

Seafarer was good late in the piece first up and this is his best distance.  Has a win under his belt this track and trip however, needs to overcome tricky draw here and does like to race handy.

Shaggy's Selections

8 – Barlinnie

11 - Zyzxx

1 – Cargo Cult

Barlinnie has been placed in races brilliantly to this point, but takes on a different class here. Despite that he does look a good horse in the making and trialled well behind Apache cat recently. Can win fresh.

Zyzxx has been smashing lesser fields than this, stepping up in class but will give himself every chance being pushed forward under the guidance of Nick Hall (claiming 2kg) so looks a good light weight chance.

Good old Cargo Colt, is starting to get up in the weights now, but has Brad Rawiller on board and has been racing in very consistent form recently. No reason that he can't run well again here.
