FLEMINGTON RACE PREVIEW - 31ST MAY 2008

RACE 7-BRIAN BEATTIE HANDICAP 2500 METRES 03.50 P.M.

Big O’s Oracle

1 – Desert Master
6 – Good Red
10 – Crabs

There’s a few horses coming back in distance here from the Andrew Ramsden which was a real slog, so going to try and work around those horses predominately.

Desert Master’s form doesn’t read anything flash this preparation however, he’s only been getting warm late in the piece at each of his runs.  This is probably his best distance and the 58kgs shouldn’t be an issue considering it’s only 4 kgs over the minimum.  Should position handy from the barrier and was narrowly defeated on Derby Day over this track and distance in the SAAB Quality which is a much stronger race than this.

Good Red didn’t run out the trip in the Andrew Ramsden however, previous form was very strong, including an unlucky 3rd behind Gorky Park.  Will go back to the rear of the field from the barrier however, is capable of making up good ground and should be in the finish.

Crabs is having his first crack at this distance and is a little bit of a query however, he’s been strong on the post over 2000 metres at his most recent starts and this race seems a logical progression.

Perhaps include Rumbird in your multiples as he could roll along in front and prove hard to run down.

Shaggy's Selections

3 - Grand Destiny

7 - Sister Sweet

4 - Ballack

Grand Destiny didn't go a yard the Sydney way last time, but was excellent holding off Elwood before that and that's good enough form to beat this field.

Sister Sweet won very well last time and was good behind Gorky Park before that. Should make her own luck on the speed and could make it 2 in a row.

Ballack loomed up, but found Electronic Million too good last time. Racing consistently and is improving with every start. Threat again.
