Race Speed: EVEN

Despite the large field there probably won't be a great deal of early pace in the 2008 Melbourne Cup. Yellowstone will probably go forward and tend to think that another international Varvees should also roll forward from towards the outside barriers.

 

Barbaricus should be content to box seat behind these with Profound Beauty with Septimus also settling forward.

 

Zarita and Guyno should both push on with Mad Rush, Bauer, Cest La Buerre and Allesandro Volta. Gallopin anf Moatize should both setlled midfield but risk being caught 3 wide.

 

The rest of the field should be content to walk out of the barriers and settle towards the rear, although Honolulu may pop out 3 wide, but should have cover.

 

Might get into Trouble:
Gallopin may well get caught 3 wide without cover and Mad Rush may have abit of trouble getting out at the right time coming round the home turn unless the field really breaks up which usually happens.

 

Should get the “Gun Run”:
Profound Beauty, Barbaricus, Septimus and Zarita.
