Race 5-SCALZO FOOD INDUSTRIES HANDICAP 1720 METRES 02.25 P.M.
Big O’s Oracle
12 – Sunburnt Land
9 – Skiddaw Peak
1 – Sirmione
Sunburnt Land has really started to mature this preparation and has shown a devastating finish in all his starts this campaign. Despite the slowish tempo, if he’s close enough on the corner he can finish all over the top of them and is suited back to the minimum weight.
Skiddaw Peak should be in the right place at the right time with his barrier and likely tempo in the race. Slight query at the distance but has been running well of late so should handle this class.
Sirmione was ordinary last start however, may not have backed up from previous start where he was the meat in the sandwich at the Valley. Has a lot of ability and can atone here as is the class animal of the race.
Shaggy's Selections
1 - Sirmione
12 - Sunburnt Land
5 - Danever
Not sure what to make of this race, looks a little tricky on paper...but just as well it's run on grass, so gone for the class runner Sirmione. Raced wide without cover the whole trip last start and was very unlucky before that. Gets his chance here.
Sunburnt Land won well at ale last start and before that ran 2nd to the smart Barlinnie. With a clever trainer and sure to be thereabouts.
Danever has proven a very costly animal to follow recently, but at one stage in his career showed some promise. Have a feeling he will go forward and get it mostly his own way in front and will prove touch to run down with 53kg on his back.
