MOONEE VALLEY RACE PREVIEW - 16 FEBRUARY 2008

RACE 7-TIMBERCORP AUSTRALIA STAKES 1200 METRES 04.10 P.M.

Big O’s Oracle

2 – Apache Cat
1 – Dance Hero
10 – Miss Finland

Impossible to go past Apache Cat here.  Barnstorming first up win in the Lightning when had to come down middle section of the track and goes very well second up.  Clear class above opponents here in terms of sprinting ability and all he needs is the right luck in running as they enter the straight and he’ll win again, pure and simple.

Dance Hero will provide Apache Cat with something to run down as he should speed across and take up the running.  Goes particularly well when fresh and has form around Miss Andretti and Takeover Target in recent times.  Getting on in years, and a credit that he’s still going around after being a champion 2 year old, but has an undeniable chance to cause the upset.

Hard to gauge where Miss Finland is at presently as she seems to run her races in patches of late.  First up effort was OK behind Apache Cat however, she’s likely to settle near the tail here and will be conceding a big start to her rivals.  If they go bananas in front, and Apache Cat gets bailed up on the fence, then she’s the one that will come home over the top of them.

Tan Tat De Lago blitzed a high quality 3 year old field when fresh in the spring so must be respected despite starting first up in a Group 1 here.  Should settle in behind the tempo and with no weight on her back, could prove a hard horse to hold out.

Monet Rules is probably praying for the heavens to open before the running of this race as he goes infinitely better on wet tracks however, even on a surface with just a touch of give he’ll be competitive as he goes Ok fresh and has performed well at Weight For Age at this track and distance previously.

Shaggy's Selections

2 - Apache Cat

7 - Sonic Quest

11 - Tan Tat De Lago

I've been on the Super Cat since he made his debut as a baldy faced battler and now he is a bona fide star of the track I'm not getting off. Everything looks like suiting him here and he should simply win.

Sonic Quest looks to have the makings of an exceptional racehorse. Seems to be a "Valley Horse" who grows an extra leg here, also runs well fresh and represents good value.

The females have traditionally had a very good record in this race and Tan Tat De Lago can maintain this record. Goes super fresh abnd with a feather weight on her back will prove difficult to run down.
