Would tend to agree with Peter Moody that there’s every likelihood that Black Caviar will go better at 1400 metres than she does at 1200 metres. She’s always so strong at the end of her races that the more relaxed tempo of a 1400 metre race would just mean she can put the issue to bed even further out than she does in the sprints.  Will take the trail behind stable sacrificial lamb Doubtful Jack and this should be all over red rover at the 300 metre mark.  Get out to the track if you can as this story may only have another 6 months to go before she heads to the paddock to what will undoubtedly be a lucrative stud career for the owners.

Couldn’t have had Southern Speed in a fit first up when she carried 60kgs vs the open handicappers who had the fitness edge but she totally outclassed them with a blistering last 100 metres when win was ultimately quite soft.  Even her trainer has conceded she can’t win this but she’s much more forward this preparation than she was in the spring and I reckon she can probably pitch within about 3 – 4 lengths of the Caviar here the finish with 100 yards to the 3rd horse.

I have nothing complimentary to say about Playing God.  Fortunately I jumped off early in the spring once I’d confirmed he was a milk drinking cat.  He’ll run 3rd here though given the other pluggers in this race are a mix of stayers and outclassed sprinters.

Well there's really not much point going too much further than in analysis than simply picking the greatest sprinter Australia will ever see. Stepping up to 1400m should prove no real problem for her. If you take only one tip I give you for the entire 2012 year make it this: It is FREE to go to Caulfield this Saturday and see one of the greatest horses of our generation probably race further into history go and do it. If you have kids take them, it'll be something they can tell their kids about one day....and show them on YouTube as well.
