Big O's Oracle

The Sydney middle distance Weight For Age ranks are very thin at the moment so I would expect that those who ran well in the Hill Stakes a fortnight ago would go well again here. Miss Marielle was rewarded for her consistency with a win in that race and had to defy all the challengers after assuming control early in the straight. Looks to get a good run again here possibly behind Mentality and Stormhill who will press forward and should be getting the breaks at the right time.
Can’t believe Pacino is racing so well in this company, especially considering how long he’s been up for. He would have beaten Miss Marielle in another bound in the Hill Stakes and is perfectly suited at 2000 metres around Randwick. Wide barrier is not of much concern as he’ll drift back and this race is likely to be run at a solid enough tempo to allow him to figure in the finish.
Nom Du Jeu is miles above these in class and only has to bring his B game to the table and may beat them all. 2nd up here after a tune up run over a mile in New Zealand and it’s worthwhile remembering that we are talking about the runner up in last year’s Caulfield Cup and Queen Elizabeth Stakes who also won an AJC Derby. Definitely goes better on soft ground and with a bit of a rain about in Sydney this weekend, track conditions should be monitored as he will come right into the race on a rain affected track.
