Big Fist: 12th Sept 2009

Thumbs Up & Big Fist is where the Mug Punting team take a humourous look at what's hot and what's not from the weekend’s racing.

THUMBS UP

Jason Maskiell

Not very often we have nice things to say about Tasmania, but this boy is a budding star. A couple of cracking rides again and not afraid to take a run when it's on offer. Will be an honorary Victorian soon enough.

Craig Williams

Racings very own Benjamin Button who seems to look younger now than he did when he started (when he looked about 53 years old despite being 20) threw up a winning treble on the weekend...and all very good rides. The whole finger salute thing afterwards is getting abit tiring though.

Racing to Win & Hot Danish

Both of these horses were carrying the grandstand in weight....but both showed so much heart to win despite the weight and expectation of the grandstand. Thumbs Up.

BIG FIST

Mug Punting proudly announce.....the Please Retire Mustard Foundation

There was so much controversy this week about the use of whips in racing and even the RSPCA chimed in with an opinion...maybe they should focus their attention on retiring the John McNair trained Mustard. I've always loved this fella...but he is 12 years old..!! Running him in town is like me sending my Nana round against Usain Bolt...it's gonna end badly.

Grizz

Take a look at the race replay for Race 4 at Moonee Valley. It's a race of camels....but there is one horse at the rear of the field who couldn't even keep up with the camels. That horse was Grizz....he is fisted.
