Big Fist & Thumbs Up - Caulfield Guineas 2011

E-mail Print PDF

Black Cavier Thumbs Up & Big Fist is where the Mug Punting team take a humourous look at what's hot and what's not from the weekend’s racing.

Black Caviar, Smart Missile, Caulfield Race Track...and a whole bunch of ladies (and Kerrin) get a mention this week in the what's hot and not in the Spring Carnival.

THUMBS UP

Black Caviar
What can you say that hasn't alrwady been written 100 times before. A modern-day Caulfield Guineas record crowd of more than 32,000 turned up to the track, pretty much exclusively to see her win. If Bernie Mandic (Harry Kewell's manager) was her manager she would have been asking for a percentage of the gate takes above last years crowd, but she settled for a bag of feed and a biscuit of hay. What a star..!!!

Women of Racing
To Gai Waterhouse (although your sons ads are starting to REALLY annoy us, and you had to bail him out as his betting IQ wasn't that great in 2008), Lisa Cropp on Hinemoa, Michelle Payne on Platelet and Kerrin McEvoy (you're not really a girl, but you do look quite feminine and you deserve a pat on the back) you all were fantastic on the weekend. Thumbs Up.

BIG FIST

Track (leader) Bias
Horses simply could NOT make ground all day with all the winners racing on or near the speed. Unacceptable on such a big race day, and yet it happens every year. If the same thing happens this weekend on Caulfield Cup Day Track manager Jason Kerr and his team is going to have a lot of explaining to do. Big Fist to you leader bias track preparing jerks.

Smart Missile
It's pretty clear now that his rocket arsed first-up win was a fluke tas he was absolutely thrased by Helmet and Manawanui in the Guineas. Despite the leader bias their breakneck speed set it up when asked Smart Missile found NOTHING. Only silver lining is he makes the Big O look a bit of a goose.

Mobile Phones at Caulfield
Was it just us or was mobile phone coverage at Caulfield non-existent on Saturday..?? To our twitter followers we apologise, but just another reason that Caulfield will always be a sideshow to Flemington racing.

Toorak Toff
You are the new Thorn Park....can't get a meter past 1400m without falling in a hole.
